Old Railroad Bridge Park

My daughter and I went for a walk after school on Monday. We walked from my school to the park and back. It's about 4 miles round trip. As you can tell it was a beautiful afternoon.

This is an old railroad trestle that goes over the Dungeness River.

Bird feeder near the education center.

Making our way back across the bridge.

The Dungeness River with the Olympic Mountains in the background.

A little background on this picture. When my daughter was about two it would take us what felt like two hours to go about two feet.  This is because she had to stop and pick up every rock that struck her fancy.  When I say every rock, I mean all her pockets would be full and so would mine. She is now 12 years old and guess what, she still collects rocks. Lucky she is more selective.

On our way back we found this oddity. That is 11 flowers on one stem.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

1. Happiness
Happiness is spending time with my daughter, just the two of us.

2. Spring in black and white

3. Family
These two little girls are apart of our family.

4. Fuzzy
I thought these tulips looked fuzzy.

5. Gathering or Provide
When I think of gathering or provide I think of my chickens. No not because they provide eggs and I gather them.  It is because I can't walk in the yard without them gathering around my feet and they provide lots of entertainment.

Skagit Valley Tulip Festival

I decided since there was no school Friday that my daughter and I would go to the Tulip Festival.  I looked at the weather and knew it was going to rain.  So the night before we had boots and umbrellas ready. My husband thought I was crazy. Why not what for better weather like maybe Sunday? Well with better weather and on the weekend also comes more people. I grew up in Forks, WA I can handle a little rain. I would rather go with less people.
So 4:15 am Friday morning we were up getting ready to go. I am NOT a morning person so this was a little difficult for me. My daughter was bright eyed and bushy tailed.* sigh*  We made it to the 6:30 Port Townsend ferry with plenty of time to spare. We arrived in La Conner a little after 8:00, so we found a little place to have breakfast. Then we headed for Roozen Gaarde. Their display garden area was beautiful. It is hard to believe they redesign and replant the display gardens every year.

My daughter's favorite color is orange, so these were her favorites.

This display with the purple, hot pink, and orange was my favorite.
After we looked at all the display gardens, we headed across the street to the very muddy fields.

I think being different, going against the grain of society is the greatest thing in the world.

Pioneer Memorial Park

~Wordless Wednesday~     ~Walk and Click Wednessday~
This little park in the middle of town is full of spring flowers. I walked around for about an hour taking pictures, using different setting on my camera. These were the best ones.

Can you believe these two pictures are from the same plant? Different camera settings.
